Islamabad [Pakistan], September 5: Heavy rains and flooding claimed the lives of at least 320 people in Pakistan over the past two months as monsoon season wreaked havoc across the country, official data showed on Tuesday.
"At least 10 people were killed during the last 24 hours due to lightning, landslides and flash floods," the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in its latest update. Out of those killed since July, 162 were children, 49 were women and 109 were men. Additionally, 598 people including women and children have wounded, the NDMA said. This season's rains have also caused extensive damage to infrastructure, with around 24,000 houses hit. (DPA)
