Gaza [Palestine], July 6: According to AFP, Mr. Netanyahu also convened a security cabinet meeting on the night of July 4 to discuss the new proposals from his opponents. It is not clear what Hamas' new proposal is, but an unnamed senior US official called it a "breakthrough" and said that Hamas "has made a significant adjustment" in its stance regarding the hostage release agreement with Israel.
Previously, Hamas stressed that Israel must withdraw all troops from the Gaza Strip and end the fighting before the hostages are released. Israel declared that it will not stop the campaign until it has destroyed Hamas' military and administrative capabilities and rescued all hostages.
Lebanon's Hezbollah movement said yesterday that its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas deputy leader Khalil al-Hayya discussed the latest security and political developments in the Gaza Strip, as well as ongoing negotiations to end the war, according to Reuters.
While there are positive developments at the negotiating table, Israel continues its military operations against Hamas and Hezbollah.
