Budapest [Hungary], July 9: MTI news agency on July 8 quoted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as saying that he "highly appreciates" China's peace initiative regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
"It is very important for the Hungarian people that China promotes peace in the world ," he said. Writing on social network X, the leader said China was "a key force in creating peaceful conditions for the Russia-Ukraine war", and praised Beijing's peace initiative on the issue.
According to Xinhua, during the meeting on July 8, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Orban had an in-depth exchange of views on the Ukraine conflict. Mr. Orban informed about his recent visits to Ukraine and Russia. President Xi highly appreciated Prime Minister Orban's efforts in promoting a political solution to the Ukraine crisis and further explained China's relevant views and proposals.
Xi stressed that an early ceasefire and political settlement were in the interest of all sides, saying the priority was to cool down the situation.
