"We are always ready for any situation, but nobody wants that. And at the initiative of the US side, we used to create a special mechanism to prevent such conflicts. The leaders of some of our departments are in direct contact with each other, there is an opportunity to consult on any crisis situation. This shows that no one wants conflict," Putin said.
However, the leader stressed that "if someone wants to do so, we are always ready", noting that Russia is not the party that wants to cause a conflict.
President Putin's remarks were made in response to a question about recent incidents between Russian and American aircraft in Syria
The Russian military reported a total of 23 dangerous incidents between Russian aircraft and aircraft of the US-led coalition since the beginning of 2023. Most occurred in July.
On the other hand, Russia has also repeatedly warned the US and its allies about the risk of a direct conflict related to the military situation in Ukraine
