Moscow [Russia], February 27: French President Emmanuel Macron announced on February 26 new steps to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia's military campaign in Ukraine.
Speaking after chairing a meeting with more than 20 European leaders to discuss Ukraine , President Macron emphasized: "We believe that Russia 's defeat is essential for security and stability in Europe".
Mr. Macron emphasized that while "there is no consensus" on sending Western ground forces to Ukraine, "nothing should be ruled out. We will do whatever is necessary to ensure that Russia cannot win this war."
Mr. Macron said that the new alliance would be established to provide Ukraine with "medium- and long-range missiles and bombs to carry out deep strikes."
The French leader also said that there was "broad consensus to do more and faster". He continued: "Nothing can be ruled out to achieve our goal. Russia cannot win that war."
There is currently no information about Russia's reaction to President Macron's above statement.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin late on February 26 promised to increase the mobility and attack potential of Russian special forces, emphasizing that this is a priority to make the country's army stronger, according to Reuters.
"We will continue to strengthen the strength of the Special Operations Forces, enhance their mobility and strike potential, and equip them with new generation weapons and equipment," said the President. Putin said in a congratulatory video message ahead of Special Operations Forces Day (February 27) in Russia.
"Let me emphasize that this is one of the top priorities for the long-term development of the army and navy," Putin said.
Russian Special Operations Forces (SOF) are forces prepared for continuous combat at the strategic level, designed to carry out specific tasks and are part of the Russian Armed Forces .
This task force has participated in Russia's covert actions in Syria over the past decade and Russia's military campaign in Ukraine since February 24, 2022.
"Special tributes to the soldiers who took part in special military operations.
